Grant Withdraws From Race

Former Micron executive Larry Grant said Thursday morning that he will not run for the U.S. House in Idaho's 1st congressional district.

From the Idaho Statesman.

Congratulations to the Minnick camp, while I threw my 2 cents behind Grant, I did so because I felt he was the better candidate between two very good candidates.

Wow...Can't say I'm sad..nor happy...how should I feel?

I just hope Larry will campaign for Minnick as much as he can. Larry worked very hard in 2006 and made some good headway. But he can't give up on his district yet. It it up to our great senior and experienced campaigners to help their juniors in our party. I'm sure Grant has some great advice to share with Minnick. He could also use his best counties from 2006 to personally help get some more democrats elected into the legislature.

Other good rumor material is that my crazy-republican-roommate is working for the IRP now. When I told him Minnick was running, he was worried. I'm happy for that. I also heard that Sali has gotten new campaign management and staff. I hope that crazy staff goes to work for Simpson.

Now what-the-heck do we have to do to get some attention for CD-2?!

You are right about having (had) two excellent candidates in CD-1. Go Minnick!
P.S., Hey Walt, can I have a job?

Episode begs the question

What is it about Idaho where any, normally "effective person"...of either party is never allowed to positively impact state affairs?

I do business in a number of western states, and one consistent theme they all have that Idaho lacks.... is that 'effective people' can and do have a positive measure (usually noticeable) on state affairs.

Not here...it's like some hidden force prevents it from happening. I have come to believe the (old Soviet term) "correlation of forces" are too well balanced: pro-life vs choice, rural vs urban, LDS vs everyone else, agriculture vs technology, lobbyists vs representatives...the list goes on & on.

If the Democrats can disrupt this stagnant equilibrium, you will have the change you seek. ( but this is gonna takes some balls you don't have, certainly not Mr. Wine & Brie Minnick)

Oh brother

Here's Tom Paine back again with a bunch of negative, cryptic, bullshit about how Idaho Democrats have no *balls.* You're wrong, as usual, although it does seem clear that you've got the ability to detect and relate to those who lacks balls. After all, wasn't it you who recently tucked your tail between your legs and moved to New Mexico? Based on your posts here, I'm wondering how in hell you have any idea what an "effective person" is.
